2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Goldie Mae Hardy of Chicago, who passed |
4 | | away on August 28, 2013; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy was born in Arp, Texas on November |
6 | | 19, 1919 to Reverend Luke and Rosie (nee Davenport) Wade; she |
7 | | graduated from Arp High School and attended Wiley College in |
8 | | Marshall, Texas; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy relocated to California in the 1940s |
10 | | and worked as a professional model; she married Spencer |
11 | | Talafaro Hardy, III and they settled in Chicago in 1951; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy began working for the Chicago Board |
13 | | of Education as a teacher's
assistant in the Head Start Child |
14 | | Development Program in October of 1968
and worked in the |
15 | | program for 36 years; she received numerous awards and
|
16 | | certificates of accomplishments from the Board of Education and |
17 | | received a
proclamation from the Board at the time of her |
18 | | retirement in 2004 for faithful
service and dedication to the |
19 | | Chicago Public School System; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy was an excellent cook, an avid |
21 | | fisherman, a mean "bid whist" player, and
she completely amazed |

1 | | everyone with her flexibility and grace on the dance floor
well |
2 | | into her mid 80s; and |
3 | | WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy was preceded in death by her parents; |
4 | | her husband, Spencer T. Hardy III; and her
siblings, Samuel |
5 | | "Billie" Wade, Luther Wade, Archie Wade, M C. "Tex" Wade,
Hosie |
6 | | Wade, Louise (nee Wade) Wright, and June (nee Wade) Hendrix; |
7 | | and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, Goldie Hardy is survived by her siblings, Lorraine |
9 | | (nee Wade) Ross, Doris (nee Wade) Major,
Chester Wade (Margie), |
10 | | Wiliie George Wade, and Jane (nee Wade)
Miller (CJ); her |
11 | | children, Spencer Talafaro
Hardy IV, Judge La Quietta J. |
12 | | Hardy-Campbell (James),
and Debra Barnard Koonce (Melvin); |
13 | | grandchildren
Latonia Hardy, Ray Hardy, Dionne Morgan |
14 | | (Addison, III),
Lori Hardy, and Chanel Barnard; |

21 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
22 | | Goldie Mae Hardy, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
23 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
