| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION
| ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | learn of the death of Daniel W. Callahan, Jr. of Oak Park, who | ||||||
| 4 | passed away on April 30, 2014; and
| ||||||
| 5 | WHEREAS, Dan Callahan was born on April 22, 1939 in Oak | ||||||
| 6 | Park; he attended St. Bernardine's Elementary School and | ||||||
| 7 | Fenwick High School before graduating from Oak Park and River | ||||||
| 8 | Forest High School; and
| ||||||
| 9 | WHEREAS, Dan Callahan served his country as a member of the | ||||||
| 10 | United States Marine Corps for 2 years; he subsequently served | ||||||
| 11 | in the reserves for 2 more years; and | ||||||
| 12 | WHEREAS, Dan Callahan worked with his father, Daniel W. | ||||||
| 13 | Callahan Sr., owner of D. W. Callahan and Sons Plumbing, | ||||||
| 14 | Heating, and Lawn Sprinklers in Oak Park from the age of 17; he | ||||||
| 15 | and his brother, Thomas, purchased the family business after | ||||||
| 16 | his father's retirement; he subsequently retired from the | ||||||
| 17 | business in 2004; and
| ||||||
| 18 | WHEREAS, Dan Callahan was a member of the local Moose Club | ||||||
| 19 | in Cicero and president of the Forest Park Kiwanis | ||||||
| 20 | organization; he also volunteered through Kiwanis during the | ||||||
| 21 | holidays, delivering food, gifts, and toys to children and | ||||||
| |||||||
| |||||||
| 1 | families in need; and | ||||||
| 2 | WHEREAS, Dan Callahan enjoyed traveling and spending | ||||||
| 3 | quality time with his wife and children; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Daniel W. Callahan, Jr. was the beloved husband of | ||||||
| 5 | Betty; the loving father of Cheryl (Mark) Puknaitis, Ronald, | ||||||
| 6 | John (Arlene), Karen Pappas, Kelly (Jeff) Chrusciel, Kimberly | ||||||
| 7 | (Rick) Selby, and Courtney (Eddie) Cruz; the loving grandpa of | ||||||
| 8 | 21; the great-grandpa of 5; the dear brother of Michael (Ann), | ||||||
| 9 | Helen, Kathleen (Terry) O'Brien, Geri (Mike) Rice, the late | ||||||
| 10 | Mary (the late Edwin) Ziebell, Thomas (the late Viola), Patsy | ||||||
| 11 | (the late John) Collins, and Patrick Callahan; the devoted son | ||||||
| 12 | of the late Daniel W. and Helen Callahan; and the dear uncle | ||||||
| 13 | and friend of many; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 14 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 15 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
| 16 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Daniel W. Callahan, | ||||||
| 17 | Jr.; and be it further
| ||||||
| 18 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 19 | presented to the family of Daniel W. Callahan, Jr. as an | ||||||
| 20 | expression of our sympathy.
