SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Bernice M. Lafontaine, who passed away on
4May 19, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Bernice Lafontaine was born on June 29, 1927 in
6Johnsburg; her parents were George and Emma (nee Miller) King;
7she married Eugene Lafontaine on June 14, 1947; and
 
8    WHEREAS, Bernice Lafontaine was employed at the Jewel
9grocery store in McHenry for 20 years; and
 
10    WHEREAS, Bernice Lafontaine was a member of St. Patrick's
11Church for 66 years; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Bernice Lafontaine was well known as the "Cookie
13Lady" due to her love of baking cookies for all occasions; she
14also enjoyed visits with her grandchildren and
15great-grandchildren in participating in card clubs with her
16friends in McHenry and Zephyrhills, Florida; and
 
17    WHEREAS, Bernice Lafontaine was preceded in death by her
18husband, Eugene, and her brother, George "Jim" King, Jr.; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Bernice Lafontaine is survived by 3 children,

1Kathy M. (Gene) Hashley, Tim (Val) Lafontaine, and Tom (Pepper)
2Lafontaine; grandchildren, Jennifer Hashley and Pete Lowy,
3Matt and Katie Hashley, Pete and Erin Hashley, Tiffany and Kyle
4Sobczak, Kyle and Stephanie Lafontaine, Jessica Lafontaine,
5and Tyler Lafontaine; great-grandchildren, Charlotte,
6Benjamin, and Joshua Hashley, Abraham Lowy, and Addison and
7Brayden Sobczak; sisters, Marie Klinker and Edna Paddock of
8McHenry; and her loving caregiver, Emma Tiu; therefore, be it
 
9    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
10ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her
11family and friends, mourn the passing of Bernice M. Lafontaine;
12and be it further
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
14presented to the family of Bernice Lafontaine as an expression
15of our sympathy.
