SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Elaine M. Wenzel of Waukegan, who passed away on May 4, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel was born on March 23, 1934 in Lake County, where she remained a lifelong resident; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel's Catholic upbringing began at Holy Family Church in North Chicago, where she received the Lord and later married her husband of 58 years, Joseph; eventually, she became a member of St. Anastasia Church in Waukegan, where she nurtured the Christian faith of her 9 children; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel was preceded in death by her parents, Menelaos and Eveline Papageorge, and a brother, George (the late Carol) Papageorge; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joseph; 9 children, Christopher Wenzel, Mary (Craig) Bloemker, Kevin Wenzel, Karen Saveraid, Joseph Wenzel, Jean Wenzel, Loretta (Howard) Jones, Susan Wenzel, and Lisa (Tom) Hackl; 15 grandchildren, Kristina, Katie, Justin, Joshua, Kyle, Kelly, Matthew, Jacob, Angela, Brandy, Alexander, Ryan, Sarah, Joe, and Rachel; a great-grandchild, Eliana; a brother, Michael (Anna) Papageorge; and many nieces and nephews; and

WHEREAS, Elaine Wenzel will be remembered fondly as a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend and a woman who touched the lives of everyone she met and opened her heart to anyone in need; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Elaine M. Wenzel; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Elaine Wenzel as an expression of our sympathy.
