2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Gill McWilliams Garman of Danville, who |
4 | | passed away on May 31, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Gill Garman was born on May 18, 1943 in Urbana to |
6 | | Tom and Naomi (nee Lierman) Garman; he graduated from Urbana |
7 | | High School in 1961 and earned his Bachelor of Arts in |
8 | | Economics from the University of Illinois in 1965; he married |
9 | | Rita Bell on August 26, 1967 in Oswego and graduated from the |
10 | | University of Iowa College of Law in 1968; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Gill Garman began his career at Sebat, Swanson, & |
12 | | Banks; most recently, he was a partner in the firm of Kesler, |
13 | | Nelson, Garman, Brougher, & Townsley; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Gill Garman was active in the Rotary Club of |
15 | | Danville No. 188, where he was a past-president and a Paul |
16 | | Harris Fellow; he served on numerous boards and committees, |
17 | | including the Danville Public Library, the Presence United |
18 | | Samaritans Foundation, and he was a director of the First |
19 | | Savings Bank of Danville; he was an active member of St. James |
20 | | United Methodist Church, the Danville Country Club, and the |
21 | | Alpha Tau Omega fraternity; he was a 2-time organ transplant |
22 | | recipient and was passionate about giving the gift of life; and
