SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Joseph E. "Joe" Meyer of Edwardsville,
4who passed away on June 12, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Joseph Meyer was born in Alton on February 7, 1952
6to Mary Jo (nee Kellerman) Meyer-Anderson and Elton Meyer; he
7graduated from Edwardsville High School in 1970 and the
8University of Notre Dame in 1974; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Joseph Meyer founded a real estate company, Joseph
10E. Meyer & Associates in Edwardsville; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Joseph Meyer always appreciated the history of
12Edwardsville; he was involved in the community through his
13memberships in the Edwardsville Rotary Club and the
14Edwardsville Gun Club, and through his development of Park
15Plaza; he also enjoyed aviation, fishing, trap shooting,
16boating, photography, golfing, relaxing at the Lake of the
17Ozarks, and taking his grandchildren exploring; he was a
18talented musician and played with the Notre Dame Marching Band,
19the Edwardsville Muny Band, and gave private performances for
20his friends and family; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Joseph Meyer was preceded in death by his father,

1Elton Meyer; and
 
2    WHEREAS, Joseph Meyer is survived by his wife, Betsy
3(Newton); his 6 children, Emily (Terry) and her husband,
4Stephen Gates, Sheri (Meyer) and her husband, Chris Dion, Molly
5(Terry) and her husband, Dennis Heepke, Jodie (Meyer) and her
6husband, Jason Oates, Sam Terry, and Eric Meyer and his wife,
7Lauren (Gansner); his 7 grandchildren, Caroline, Betsy, and Sam
8Gates, Grace Dion, Lucy and Henry Heepke, and Joseph Meyer; his
9mother, MaryJo Anderson; his sister, Kari (Fred) Barton; and
10his brother, Ned (Dorothy) Meyer; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Joseph E. "Joe" Meyer, and extend our sincere condolences to
14his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Joseph Meyer as an expression of our
18deepest sympathy.
