2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of A. Sue Jolitz of Algonquin, who passed |
4 | | away on June 23, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, A. Sue Jolitz was born on January 1, 1936 in |
6 | | Chicago; her parents were Eldon and Orpha Hartley; she married |
7 | | Norm Jolitz on January 5, 1957; and
|
8 | | WHEREAS, A. Sue Jolitz graduated from Knoxville High |
9 | | School; after moving to Elgin at the age of 18, she began |
10 | | working at Sherman Hospital as a surgical assistant; in later |
11 | | years, she was employed by Copel Limited Wine Importer and the |
12 | | E.M. Melahn Construction Company, where she remained until she |
13 | | was elected as Village Clerk; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, A. Sue Jolitz was active in McHenry County and |
15 | | Algonquin politics; she served on multiple Village of Algonquin |
16 | | boards prior to being elected as a Village Trustee in 1979; in |
17 | | 1985, she was elected to serve as Algonquin Village Clerk, a |
18 | | position she held until her retirement in 1998; and
|
19 | | WHEREAS, A. Sue Jolitz was a faithful member of the |
20 | | Congregational Church of Algonquin, where she participated in |
21 | | the choir, Christian education programs, and many boards, |
|

1 | | committees, and offices for the church, including the position |
2 | | of Finance Committee Chairwomen; she was a member of the |
3 | | Algonquin Area Youth Organization, the McHenry County |
4 | | Bicentennial Committee, and the Algonquin Founders' Days |
5 | | Committee; she was also a charter member of the local Make a |
6 | | Child Smile/Hearts of Gold organization and the Algonquin |
7 | | Lioness Club, where she was a recipient of a Melvin Jones |
8 | | Award; and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, A. Sue Jolitz and her husband were named "Founders |
10 | | Favorites" in 1978, and she was later named a "Founders |
11 | | Favorite" in 1997; she also received the Woman of the Year |
12 | | Award from the Women's Club; and |
13 | | WHEREAS, A. Sue Jolitz was preceded in death by her parents |
14 | | and her brothers, Tom and Jack Hartley; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, A. Sue Jolitz is survived by her husband, Norm; 2 |
16 | | sons, Jeff (Mandy) Jolitz and Randy (Leslie) Jolitz; 6 |
17 | | grandchildren: Benson (Kristin), Brian (Kaitlyn), Charles, |
18 | | Seth, Madison, and Meredith; a great-grandson, Jack; a brother, |
19 | | Laverne "Doc"; and many dear friends; therefore, be it

20 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
21 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her |
22 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of A. Sue Jolitz; and be |
