SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Norman H. Lehrer of Hyde Park and
4Wheaton, who passed away on July 8, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norman Lehrer was born on March 20, 1946 in a
6displaced persons camp in Liegneitz, Poland; his parents were
7Rose and Marcus Lehrer; in 1949, he traveled on the USNS
8General Heintzelman to Ellis Island; and
 
9    WHEREAS, Norman Lehrer served his country in the United
10States Army from 1967 to 1969 as a Criminal Investigation
11Detective in Baumholder, Germany; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Norman Lehrer was a graduate of Hyde Park High
13School and the University of Chicago; he subsequently earned
14his Juris Doctor of Law with honors from Lewis University in
151978; and
 
16    WHEREAS, Norman Lehrer served as a trial attorney for over
1736 years; during his career, he was instrumental in driving
18Illinois case law to protect consumers against car dealers and
19car manufacturers in fraud, consumer fraud, and breach of
20warranty issues; and

1    WHEREAS, Norman Lehrer was an avid reader, listener, and a
2skilled conversationalist; he was well known as an expert in
3firearms and a teacher of firearm safety; he also enjoyed
4playing poker, camping, and canoeing; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norman Lehrer is survived by his wife, Nancy; a
6daughter, Sarah Rose; a step-daughter, Natalie Tomes; a sister,
7Dorothy Friedman; an aunt, Pauline Nusbaum; a niece, Gillian
8(Abram) Nalibotsky; 2 nephews, Tom Friedman and Ross Friedman;
9and 2 cousins, Norman (Mary Ann) Nusbaum and Jeff Nusbaum;
10therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his
13family and friends, mourn the passing of Norman H. Lehrer; and
14be it further
 
15    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16presented to the family of Norman Lehrer as an expression of
17our sympathy.
