SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Helen E. Osterberg of Beach Park, who
4passed away on June 3, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Helen Osterberg was born on September 4, 1921 in
6St. Paul, Minnesota to the Reverend and Mrs. John Franklin; she
7graduated from Bristol High School in Connecticut in 1939; she
8attended and worked as a secretary at the Providence Bible
9Institute in Rhode Island and at Bethel College in St. Paul,
10Minnesota; she married David Osterberg in June of 1950; and
 
11    WHEREAS, Helen Osterberg worked for the Veterans
12Administration Hospital and Abbott Laboratories in North
13Chicago; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Helen Osterberg was a member of Immanuel Church in
15Waukegan for 39 years where she was a Deaconess, a Pioneer
16Girls leader, and Sunday School teacher, and was active in the
17evangelism-visitation ministry; for 13 years, she was a
18secretary at the church and retired from Immanuel's "Concern
19Counseling Center" in 1984; in later years she was a member of
20Grace Missionary Church in Zion; and
 
21    WHEREAS, Helen Osterberg was preceded in death by her

1parents; 3 sisters, Mildred Franklin, Ingrid Johnson, and Ethel
2Johnson; and one brother, Sven Franklin; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Helen Osterberg is survived by her husband, David;
4a son, David (Karen) Osterberg; 2 daughters, Jan (Ken) Stone
5and Dagmar (Al) May; 13 grandchildren, Kelly Roberts, D.J.
6Osterberg, Ben Osterberg, Scott (Andrea) Osterberg, Krystal
7(Bryan) Patterson, Katie (Mike) Berggren, Kristy Stone, Erik
8Stone, Kimmy (Gary) Sworthout, Michelle Stone, Michael Stone,
9Megan May, and Kalie May; 13 great-grandchildren; and many
10nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
11    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
12ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
13Helen E. Osterberg, and extend our sincere condolences to her
14family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it
15further
 
16    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
17presented to the family of Helen Osterberg as an expression of
18our deepest sympathy.
