SENATE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to 
3learn of the death of  Stephen Joseph Zriny, Sr. of McHenry, who 
4passed away on August 5, 2014; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. was born on April 7, 1945 in 
6Chicago; his parents were Stephen and LaVergne (nee Stateczny) 
7Zriny; he married Kathleen "Kitty" Phelan on October 31, 1964 
8at St. Mary's Catholic Church in McHenry; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. was employed with Waste 
10Management for 30 years; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. was an avid bowler for years 
12and was on the state board; he also enjoyed doing puzzles by 
13the TV, collecting bird houses, watching the birds, old cars, 
14and restoring old wooden antiques; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. was preceded in death by his 
16parents and his brother, John J. Zriny; and
  
 
17    WHEREAS, Stephen Zriny, Sr. is survived by his wife of 49 
18years, Kathleen; 4 children, Cassandra (Keith) Wright, SJ 
19(Jackie) Zriny, II, Zabrina (Paul) Mihelic, and Johanna Zriny 
20(Eric Chesler); 6 grandchildren, Matigen, Kyan, Jackson,

1Mason, Avery, and Sophia; 2 brothers, Robert J. Zriny and 
2Charles Tonyan; a brother-in-law, Michael (Patty) Phelan; a 
3sister-in-law, Jackie Jesse; and many nieces and nephews; 
4therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL 
6ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his 
7family and friends, mourn the passing of Stephen Joseph Zriny, 
8Sr.; and be it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to the family of Stephen Zriny, Sr. as an expression 
11of our sympathy.
