|
2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
3 | | learn of the death of Carole A. Michels of rural Elburn, who |
4 | | passed away on August 16, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Carole Michels was born on June 29, 1941 in Aurora |
6 | | to Roy and Gertrude (nee Kroeger) Brown; she attended Oak Park |
7 | | Elementary School and East Aurora Junior High School, and |
8 | | graduated from East Aurora High School in 1959 in its first |
9 | | graduating class; she married Jim Michels on December 1, 1962 |
10 | | at St. Therese of Jesus Catholic Church in Aurora; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Carole Michels began her career as a secretary |
12 | | with IBM in Aurora; she and her husband then spent time in |
13 | | Oklahoma and Minnesota before returning to Illinois and |
14 | | settling in their home in Blackberry Township in 1969; and |
15 | | WHEREAS, Carole Michels concentrated on raising her |
16 | | children and looking after her family before resuming her |
17 | | secretarial career in 1974 when she joined the newly formed |
18 | | consulting engineering firm, Engineering Enterprises in |
19 | | Elburn; she became active in the Elburn Business Council, and |
20 | | in 1982, she became a realtor with Leuer Realty where she was a |
21 | | "top producer" for most of her 30 year career; she was a member |
22 | | and President of the Greater Aurora Association of Realtors and |

1 | | a member of the Fox Valley Board of Realtors; she held several |
2 | | leadership positions with both boards; she was also a charter |
3 | | member of the Kane County Tourism Association and a member of |
4 | | the Kaneland Foundation and the Waubonsee Community College |
5 | | Foundation; she was a precinct committee person for Blackberry |
6 | | Township, Kane County for many years; she was one of the 7 |
7 | | founders of Kaneland Community Bank, now American Bank and |
8 | | Trust in Elburn; she was also the Corporate Secretary Emeritus |
9 | | of Engineering Enterprises, Incorporated in Sugar Grove; and
|
10 | | WHEREAS, Carole Michels was active in St. Gall Catholic |
11 | | Church in Elburn where she was an Eucharistic Minister; she |
12 | | enjoyed life, especially entertaining family and friends by |
13 | | cooking and baking; she also enjoyed traveling with her family |
14 | | and friends, and vacationing at Powers Lake, Wisconsin; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Carole Michels was preceded in death by her |
16 | | parents; grandsons, Geno and Ryan Migliorini; her mother and |
17 | | father-in-law, Marie and Ben Michels; her brothers-in-law, |
18 | | Bob, Art, and Bern Michels and Jim McCue Sr.; and 5 nieces and |
19 | | nephews; and
|
20 | | WHEREAS, Carole Michels is survived by her husband, Jim; |
21 | | sons, Sean (Valerie) Michels and Todd (Jacqui) Michels; |
22 | | daughter, Denise (Brian) Migliorini; sisters, Jean (Don) |
23 | | White, Joan McCue, and Judy (Jim) Kreitz; grandchildren, Abby, |

5 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
6 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of |
7 | | Carole A. Michels, and extend our sincere condolences to her |
8 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it |
9 | | further

10 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
11 | | presented to the family of Carole Michels as an expression of |
12 | | our deepest sympathy.
