SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Mary Bridget Cadigan, who passed away on July 19, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Mary Cadigan was raised on the South Side of Chicago; she graduated from Saint Margaret of Scotland Grammar School in 1945 and Longwood Academy in 1949; and

WHEREAS, In 1960, Mary Cadigan and her husband moved to Arlington Heights, where they raised their family and were active members of Saint James Parish for 49 years; they moved to the Resurrection Retirement Community in 2009; and

WHEREAS, Mary Cadigan had a lifelong devotion to care of the homeless and worked for many years as a volunteer for homeless assistance groups, including Saint James Church, the People's Church in Uptown, Chicago, and the Hope Center in Palatine, where she was a member of the Board; she was a founding member of the Hope Center and was named Outstanding Community Member and Volunteer in 2006; and

WHEREAS, Mary Cadigan was the wife of William J. Cadigan; the mother of Mary Clare (Patrick Lynch), Catharine M. (Mark Ostermann), Anne T. (Michael Gaziano), Sheila E., William J. (Beth Wood), and Eileen P. (Raphael Brasseur); the loving Nana of Michaela, Dante, and Liam Gaziano, Isla and Terra Brazier, Joey Lynch, Cecilia and Nadia Brasseur, and Billy Cadigan; the dear sister of Martin Connolly (Nancy), Rita (the late John) McNally, Kathleen (the late Donald) Lux, Michael (Nancy) Connolly, the late Eleanor (Michael) Brennan, and the late Betty (Robert) Wulf; the daughter of Bartley and Mary (nee Finnegan) Connolly; and the loving niece, cousin, and aunt of many; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with her family and friends, mourn the passing of Mary Bridget Cadigan; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Mary Cadigan as an expression of our sympathy.
