| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate wish to |
| 3 | | recognize Earlean Collins on the occasion of her retirement as |
| 4 | | Cook County Commissioner; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Commissioner Collins has dedicated her life to |
| 6 | | public service, serving 37 years of elected public office; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, Commissioner Collins was the first black female |
| 8 | | elected to the Illinois Senate and the first female Assistant |
| 9 | | Majority Leader and is the longest serving female elected |
| 10 | | official in the State of Illinois; and
|
| 11 | | WHEREAS, A celebration in honor of Commissioner Collins |
| 12 | | will be held on October 17, 2014 at The 500 Room at the |
| 13 | | Professional Building at Rush University Medical Center; |
| 14 | | therefore, be it

| 15 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 16 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we recognize Earlean |
| 17 | | Collins on her retirement as Cook County Commissioner, thank |
| 18 | | her for her dedication to public service, and wish her the best |
| 19 | | in all her future endeavors; and be it further |
