SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Troy Randall Ward of Glen Carbon, who passed away on June 3, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Troy Ward was born on September 21, 1947 in Hendersonville, North Carolina; his parents were Juthron and Ginny (nee Campbell) Ward; he married Cathy Wayant on June 10, 1972 in Greensboro, North Carolina; and

WHEREAS, Troy Ward was a Vietnam veteran who proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army; he was the recipient of 2 Bronze Stars, the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal, the Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, and the Army Sharpshooter Marksmanship Badge with M-14 Qualification Attachment Bar for his meritorious service; and

WHEREAS, Troy Ward was employed as the plant manager of A.O. Smith in Granite City for many years; he also retired from the quality control department of the Nike Corporation in St. Louis, Missouri; and

WHEREAS, Troy Ward was a dedicated member of the Glen Carbon Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2222; and

WHEREAS, Troy Ward enjoyed golfing, cooking, and spending time with his family, especially his 8 grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Troy Ward is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Cathy Ward; 4 children, Mary (Vince) Hughes, Kelly Wesley, Brandon Ward, and Jon Ward; 8 grandchildren, Courtney Lybarger, Taylor Lybarger, Brooke Wesley, Alison Wesley, Ellie Hughes, Grace Hughes, Jackson Ward, and Lena Ward; a sister, Karen Barker; 2 brothers, David Ward and Kevin (Daryl) Ward; and many extended family members and friends; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his family and friends, mourn the passing of Troy Randall Ward; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Troy Ward as an expression of our sympathy.
