| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Carl G. Wellman of Harvard, who passed |
| 4 | | away on August 25, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Carl Wellman was born September 13, 1925 in West |
| 6 | | Point, Iowa to Henry and Bertha (nee Wiggenjost) Wellman; he |
| 7 | | served in the United States Army during World War II in the |
| 8 | | Philippines; he married Winnifred Walsh on October 25, 1952 in |
| 9 | | Regina, Saskatchewan, Canada; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Carl Wellman farmed in his early years in Iowa and |
| 11 | | Canada and for many years he worked as an electrician for |
| 12 | | Illinois Bell in Chicago; and
|
| 13 | | WHEREAS, Carl Wellman was a member of the Woodstock |
| 14 | | Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Harvard Grange, and the Antique |
| 15 | | Outboard Motor Club; he had a large collection of antique |
| 16 | | outboard motors and was also well known for his hat collection; |
| 17 | | he enjoyed attending thresheree events such as the Rock River |
| 18 | | Thresheree in Edgerton, Wisconsin; and
|
| 19 | | WHEREAS, Carl Wellman was preceded in death by his sisters, |
| 20 | | Marian Woolford, Lucille Schumaker, Irene Wellman, and Clara |
| 21 | | Wellman; and
