SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to
3learn of the death of Norman R. Freund of Johnsburg, who passed
4away on September 20, 2014; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Norman Freund was born on August 31, 1930 in
6Johnsburg to Frederick P. and Tillie (nee Stilling) Freund; on
7February 16, 1963, he married Marilyn Rooney at St. Thomas
8Church in Crystal Lake; he was a veteran of the United States
9Army, serving his country during the Korean War at the Panama
10Canal; and
 
11    WHEREAS, For over 20 years, Norman Freund and Marilyn were
12the owners and operators of the Royal Motel in Geneseo; they
13sold the business in 1996; he grew up doing carpentry until he
14purchased the motel; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Norman Freund enjoyed traveling, golfing, playing
16the organ, and bowling leagues; he also loved to garden and
17take care of his many flowers; he was an avid Chicago Cubs fan;
18he and his wife traveled to Europe several times, and a
19highlight of one trip was seeing Pope John Paul II in 2000; he
20was a member of St. John the Baptist Church and the Catholic
21Order of Foresters; and

1    WHEREAS, Norman Freund was preceded in death by his
2parents; 2 brothers, Gerald and Stanley Freund; and a sister,
3Clarene Peisert; and
 
4    WHEREAS, Norman Freund is survived by his children, Nancy
5(Thomas) Talbot, Andrew (Mary) Freund, Theresa (Jeff) Sykucki,
6Fred (Deanna) Freund, and Ginger Kastor; 17 grandchildren,
7Bryan (Amanda) Talbot, Brad Talbot, Derek Talbot, Drew Talbot,
8Scott Freund, Kevin Freund, Amy Freund, Paige Freund, Julie
9Freund, Leo Sykucki, Samantha Sykucki, Emma Sykucki, Jack
10Sykucki, Alex Freund, Faith Freund, Kyle Kastor, and Kayla
11Kastor; a sister, Junilla Shaft; a brother-in-law, Robert
12Peisert; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it
 
13    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL
14ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
15Norman R. Freund, and extend our sincere condolences to his
16family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
17further
 
18    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
19presented to the family of Norman Freund as an expression of
20our deepest sympathy.
