| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of George H. Miller; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, George Miller served as president of the Township |
| 5 | | Officials of Illinois from 1977 to 1979 and served as the |
| 6 | | organization's executive director from 1979 to 1996; he also |
| 7 | | served as editor of the organization's magazine; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, After his retirement from the Township Officials |
| 9 | | of Illinois, George Miller served the Citizens Utility Board as |
| 10 | | its statewide secretary; he also volunteered at the Chicago |
| 11 | | History Museum and was active in the Kiwanis; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, George Miller served as Auditor and a trustee in |
| 13 | | Leyden Township for 12 years; he also served as president of |
| 14 | | the Township Officials of Cook County and took part in |
| 15 | | discussions to create an organization that would become the |
| 16 | | National Association of Towns and Townships; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, George Miller will be fondly remembered by his |
| 18 | | peers as a tireless worker for township government who relished |
| 19 | | taking on anti-township activists with a fervor based in his |
| 20 | | belief that townships are essential and that they provide |
| 21 | | important services; and
