| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of John Bruce Lind, who passed away on June |
| 4 | | 1, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Lind was born on October 3, 1941 in Hibbing, |
| 6 | | Minnesota and was raised in southwest Minneapolis; he married |
| 7 | | Carla Corty in 1965; after marrying, he and his wife relocated |
| 8 | | to Decatur before moving to Oak Park, where they raised their |
| 9 | | family; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, John Lind graduated from the University of |
| 11 | | Minnesota with a Bachelor of Science degree in business; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, John Lind was employed in agri-business for 30 |
| 13 | | years; he spent the last 25 years of his career as a member and |
| 14 | | commodity futures trader of the Chicago Board of Trade; in |
| 15 | | 1996, he and his wife retired to their farm in rural |
| 16 | | Dodgeville, Wisconsin; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, After retiring, John Lind quickly became immersed |
| 18 | | in community service, becoming President of the local Habitat |
| 19 | | for Humanity chapter and serving on the boards of the Iowa |
| 20 | | County Area Economic Development Corporation, the Dodgeville |
| 21 | | Historic Preservation Committee, Community Action Ventures, |
|

| 1 | | the Shake Rag Alley Center for the Arts, and the Hodan Center; |
| 2 | | in 1999, he was elected to the Dodgeville Town Board, where he |
| 3 | | served for 5 years; he also served on the Iowa County Board |
| 4 | | from 2004 to 2010; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, John Lind was preceded in death by his parents, |
| 6 | | Knute (Kenneth) Lind and Christine (Coduti) Lind; and
|
| 7 | | WHEREAS, John Lind is survived by his wife of 48 years, |
| 8 | | Carla; 3 children, Christopher Lind (Carol Metcalfe), Jeremy |
| 9 | | Lind (Dana Limberg), and Brindi Melton; 4 grandchildren, |
| 10 | | Cameron Lind, Elizabeth Lind, Zeke Limberg and Fischer Lind; a |
| 11 | | sister, Joanne Hohman (David); a brother, Richard Lind (Mali); |
| 12 | | a brother-in-law, William Corty (Diane); 2 sisters-in-law, |
| 13 | | Cynthia Corty (Doug Rockne) and Julianne Corty; his best friend |
| 14 | | of 40 years, David Clements (Cynthia); and many nieces, |
| 15 | | nephews, friends, and neighbors; therefore, be it
|
| 16 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL |
| 17 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his |
| 18 | | family and friends, mourn the passing of John Bruce Lind; and |
| 19 | | be it further
|
| 20 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be |
| 21 | | presented to the family of John Lind as an expression of our |
| 22 | | sympathy.
