| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to |
| 3 | | learn of the death of Gerald Wayne Bassett of Savannah, |
| 4 | | Georgia, who passed away on November 9, 2014; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Bassett was born in Wood River on June 11, |
| 6 | | 1952 to Merle and Norine Bassett; he graduated from Roxana High |
| 7 | | School in 1970; he attended DePauw University in Greencastle, |
| 8 | | Indiana and graduated from Southern Illinois University |
| 9 | | Edwardsville with a liberal arts degree; he received his Juris |
| 10 | | Doctor from the Washington University School of Law in St. |
| 11 | | Louis, Missouri in 1988; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Prior to obtaining his legal degree, Gerald |
| 13 | | Bassett worked in the Madison County Chief County Assessment |
| 14 | | Office; he began his law practice in Illinois, and then moved |
| 15 | | to Georgia in 1995, where he maintained an office for many |
| 16 | | years; he was a member of the State Bar of Georgia and the |
| 17 | | Illinois State Bar Association; and
|
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Bassett was preceded in death by his |
| 19 | | grandparents and a son, Jerrad Bassett; and
|
| 20 | | WHEREAS, Gerald Bassett is survived by his parents; his 2 |
| 21 | | daughters, Marina Bassett and Sasha Bassett; his 3 sisters, |
