SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to learn of the death of Eugene Mitchell "Gene" Snarski of Waukegan, who passed away on September 2, 2014; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski was born on April 15, 1927 to Charlotte R. and Narcyz "Nicholas" Snarski; he graduated from Holy Rosary Catholic Grade School in North Chicago in 1940; he graduated from Waukegan Township High School in May of 1944, where he played in the Junior band and took part in Junior Reserve Officers' Training Corps (JROTC), in which he attained the rank of Captain; he married Sally Reynolds Sexton on February 13, 1954 at St. Anastasia Catholic Parish in Waukegan; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski began attending the University of Notre Dame in June of 1944, but his studies were interrupted when he was drafted into the United States Army; after completing basic training, he was transferred to Camp Hood, Texas, where he became an Infantry Rifleman; he served at the Field Artillery Camp at Fort Sill, Oklahoma from June 21, 1945, to October 31, 1946, when he was honorably discharged as a Private First Class from the Headquarters Battery of the Fifth Field Artillery Group of the United States Army; after the completion of his military service, he was readmitted to the University of Notre Dame and graduated with honors on January 30, 1949; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski graduated from the Northwestern University School of Law on January 30, 1952; he was admitted to the Illinois Bar on November 17, 1952 and obtained a position with the law firm of Hall, Meyer and Van Deusen; in 1955, he began working for James Herman and Co. as a claims adjuster and engaged in the practice of law with Charles May; he served as a felony probation officer for Lake County from 1955 to 1962; in 1956, he joined the firm of Lidschin and Pucin; he later became a partner at the law firm of Conzelman, Schultz, O'Meara, and Snarski; he served as the city attorney for the cities of Park City, Round Lake, and Kildeer and as the assistant city attorney for the City of Waukegan, where he also served as the city secretary; additionally, he served as the Treasurer of the Lake County Bar Association for 5 years; he practiced law until his retirement on January 31, 2006; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski was preceded in death by his wife of 60 years, Sally; and

WHEREAS, Eugene Snarski is survived by all 8 of his and Sally's children; daughter, Elisabeth (F. Steven) Bissell; 3 children, Katherine (Eric) Richardson, Maria, and Eleanor; her son, William; daughter, Sarah (Robert) Berrett; 2 children, Kaitlyn and Emily; triplet sons, Thomas (Marijean); 2 children, Theresa and Rebecca; Andrew (Cindy); 2 children, Nicole and Alexander; and Timothy (Shawn); 4 children, Felicia, Marianna, Andrea, and Amelia; son, Nicholas (Jill); 4 children, Stephen, Madeline, Sally, and Nicholas; daughter, Maria (A. Peter Giorgianni); 3 children, Peter, Annalise, and Alex; his sister, Generose Szostak; and many nieces and nephews; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Eugene Mitchell "Gene" Snarski, and extend our sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Eugene Snarski as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
