| 1 | SENATE RESOLUTION

| 2 | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened to | ||||||
| 3 | mourn the death of Ronald "Ron" Dean Marx, who passed away on | ||||||
| 4 | November 23, 2014 after a courageous battle with cancer with | ||||||
| 5 | his family by his side; and
| ||||||
| 6 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx was born on July 6, 1959 in Morris; | ||||||
| 7 | his parents were Robert Marx and Ellen Marx; he was raised in | ||||||
| 8 | Morris, graduating with the Class of 1977 from Morris High | ||||||
| 9 | School, and was married to Barb (nee Neal) Siegel; on December | ||||||
| 10 | 16, 2006, he married Tina Darm; and
| ||||||
| 11 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx served in law enforcement as a | ||||||
| 12 | patrolman in Morris for 5 years; and | ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx started his career in 1991 as a | ||||||
| 14 | firefighter and paramedic with the Naperville Fire Department, | ||||||
| 15 | where he served for over 20 years; and
| ||||||
| 16 | WHEREAS, Through his service with the Naperville Fire | ||||||
| 17 | Department, Ronald Marx was dedicated to working with the | ||||||
| 18 | community to strengthen relations, serving on many teams and | ||||||
| 19 | committees; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx worked on the Naperville Fire | ||||||

| |||||||
| 1 | Department's accreditation process and transition into the | ||||||
| 2 | Edward Hospital Emergency Medical System; he was also part of | ||||||
| 3 | the Naperville Fire Department Fire Investigation Team; and | ||||||
| 4 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx was known for his work with the | ||||||
| 5 | Naperville Fire Department Public Education Team, where his | ||||||
| 6 | luminous personality was a perfect fit for interacting with the | ||||||
| 7 | public; those who knew him best characterized him as a true | ||||||
| 8 | leader and great mentor to many new firefighters and | ||||||
| 9 | paramedics; and
| ||||||
| 10 | WHEREAS, On June 15, 2006, Ronald Marx became a member of | ||||||
| 11 | the Morris Fire Protection and Ambulance District; he was | ||||||
| 12 | promoted to the rank of Lieutenant in January of 2012; and
| ||||||
| 13 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx was a dedicated leader who worked in | ||||||
| 14 | the development of training programs and officer development | ||||||
| 15 | within the fire department; he rode in the fire engine until | ||||||
| 16 | the day he was diagnosed; and
| ||||||
| 17 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx enjoyed traveling, camping, and the | ||||||
| 18 | outdoors, but his greatest love was fire service and his 4 | ||||||
| 19 | grandchildren; and
| ||||||
| 20 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx was preceded in death by his father; | ||||||
| 21 | and | ||||||

| 1 | WHEREAS, Ronald Marx is survived by his wife, Tina; his | ||||||
| 2 | mother; 2 children, Nicole (Dave) Barr and Brad Chapman; 4 | ||||||
| 3 | grandchildren, Kiersten, Travis, Aubree, and Olivia Barr; 6 | ||||||
| 4 | siblings, Robert (Kim), Karen (Gary) Marshall, John (Deb), | ||||||
| 5 | Jerry (Patti), Darrell (Lyn), and Dennis; and many nieces and | ||||||
| 6 | nephews; therefore, be it
| ||||||
| 7 | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-EIGHTH GENERAL | ||||||
| 8 | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we, along with his | ||||||
| 9 | family and friends, mourn the passing of Ronald "Ron" Dean | ||||||
| 10 | Marx; and be it further
| ||||||
| 11 | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | ||||||
| 12 | presented to the family of Ronald Marx as an expression of our | ||||||
| 13 | sympathy.
