| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by changing |
| 5 | | Section 8-302 as follows:
|

The Commission shall require that every |
| 8 | | public utility
furnishing natural or artificial gas, |
| 9 | | electricity or water to the public,
where the individual |
| 10 | | consumption is measured by meter, shall, upon written
request |
| 11 | | of any consumer, cause the meter reader at the time of reading |
| 12 | | such
consumer's meter to leave at such meter a card showing the |
| 13 | | present reading
of the meter, the last previous reading, and |
| 14 | | the dates of such two readings. |
