1 | | AN ACT concerning courts.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, |
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Juvenile Court Act of 1987 is amended by |
5 | | changing Section 5-125 as follows:
|
6 | | (705 ILCS 405/5-125)
|
7 | | Sec. 5-125. Concurrent jurisdiction. Any minor alleged to |
8 | | have violated a traffic, boating, or fish and
and game law,
or |
9 | | a municipal or county ordinance, may be prosecuted for the |
10 | | violation and if
found
guilty punished under any statute or |
11 | | ordinance relating to the violation,
without reference to the |
12 | | procedures set out in this Article, except that any
detention, |
13 | | must be in compliance with this Article. |
14 | | For the purpose of this Section, "traffic violation" shall |
15 | | include a
violation of Section 9-3 of the Criminal Code of 1961 |
16 | | or the Criminal Code of 2012 relating to the offense
of
|
17 | | reckless homicide, Section 11-501 of the Illinois Vehicle Code, |
18 | | or any similar
county or municipal ordinance.
