| 1 | | feasibility of the operation of automated motor vehicles in |
| 2 | | this State and produce a report on its findings. The report |
| 3 | | shall include but not be limited to the following:

| 4 | | (1) research on whether automated motor vehicles |
| 5 | | reduce traffic fatalities and crashes by reducing or |
| 6 | | eliminating driver error;
|
| 7 | | (2) research on whether automated motor vehicles |
| 8 | | reduce congestion and improve fuel economy through better |
| 9 | | utilization of existing highway capacity and more |
| 10 | | efficient operation of a vehicle's acceleration and |
| 11 | | braking controls; and
|
| 12 | | (3) recommendations on which, if any, current laws |
| 13 | | should be amended to accommodate the introduction or |
| 14 | | testing of automated motor vehicles in this State.

| 15 | | (c) The Secretary shall submit the report and |
| 16 | | recommendations, including recommended legislative action, to |
| 17 | | the Governor and the General Assembly on or before July 1, |
| 18 | | 2016.

| 19 | | Section 15. Expiration. This Act is repealed on January 1, |
| 20 | | 2017.
|
| 21 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 22 | | becoming law.".
