AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 3136 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3136 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:

 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by 
5changing Section 12-802 as follows:
 


6    (625 ILCS 5/12-802)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 12-802)



7    Sec. 12-802. Identification. 
8    (a) Each school bus shall have the
the sign "SCHOOL
BUS" 
9painted on both the front and rear of the bus as high as 
10practicable
in letters at least 8 inches high.
11    (b) Each school bus and multifunction school-activity bus 
12(MFSAB) shall have the vehicle
weight and the vehicle maximum 
13passenger capacity recommended by the manufacturer
of the bus, 
14which shall be based upon provision for 13 inches of seating

15space for each passenger exclusive of the driver, painted on

16the body to the left of the service door in letters at least 2

1inches high.
The name of the owner or the entity or both for 
2which the school bus or MFSAB is operated
 shall be painted in a 
3contrasting color on both sides, centered
as high as 
4practicable below the window line, in letters at least 4 inches

5high.  An identification number shall be painted as high as 
6practicable
on both the front and rear of the school bus or 
7MFSAB in letters at least
4 inches high.
8    (c)  Decals may be used instead of painting under this 
9Section.
