SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
625 ILCS 35/4  from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 804

    Amends the Cycle Rider Safety Training Act. Provides that each Regional Cycle Rider Safety Training Center may issue an annual report to the Secretary of State addressing ways that road safety in Illinois may be improved.

1    AN ACT concerning transportation.
 
2    Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3represented in the General Assembly:
 
4    Section 5. The Cycle Rider Safety Training Act is amended
5by changing Section 4 as follows:
 
6    (625 ILCS 35/4)  (from Ch. 95 1/2, par. 804)
7    Sec. 4. Any State or community college, State university or
8community agency designated by the Department may organize a
9Regional Cycle Rider Safety Training Center and may offer cycle
10rider safety training courses through such Training Centers
11which it operates. The curriculum and accreditation for the
12courses, and the geographic areas in which each Training Center
13may offer the courses, shall be provided for by rules and
14regulations of the Department. Instructors of such courses
15shall meet the qualification and certification requirements of
16the regulations of the Department and the college, university
17or community agency offering the program and may be employed on
18a calendar year rather than a school year basis. Such courses
19shall be open to all residents of the State who hold a
20currently valid driver's license and who have reached their
2116th birthday without regard to whether such person is enrolled
22in any other course offered by said State or community college,
23State university or community agency. Such courses may be

1offered throughout the calendar year. The courses may be
2offered as credit or noncredit courses, but no fee shall be
3charged except for a nominal registration fee which shall be
4refunded upon completion of the course. Each Regional Cycle
5Rider Safety Training Center may issue an annual report to the
6Secretary of State addressing ways that road safety in Illinois
7may be improved.
