| 2 | | AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 3428 by replacing |
| 3 | | everything after the enacting clause with the following:

| 4 | | "Section 5. The College and Career Success for All Students |
| 5 | | Act is amended by adding Section 30 as follows:
|
| 6 | | (105 ILCS 302/30 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 30. Examination; postsecondary level course credit. |
| 8 | | (a) In this Section, "institution of higher education" |
| 9 | | means a public university or public community college located |
| 10 | | in this State. |
| 11 | | (b) The Illinois Articulation Initiative, through its |
| 12 | | Major panels and General Education panels, shall review
each of |
| 13 | | the College Board Advanced Placement examinations and assign |
| 14 | | codes for transfer. All courses, Advanced Placement or |
| 15 | | otherwise, assigned codes for transfer through the Illinois |
| 16 | | Articulation Initiative must be guaranteed transfer credit as |
|

| 1 | | an individual course and not be required to be part of a |
| 2 | | package of courses. The review must be completed within 6 |
| 3 | | months after the effective date of this amendatory Act of the |
| 4 | | 99th General Assembly. Any review thereafter for any new
or |
| 5 | | substantially revised examinations must be completed within 6 |
| 6 | | months after being released by the College Board. |
| 7 | | (c) Institutions of higher education that offer a |
| 8 | | corresponding course for a particular Advanced Placement |
| 9 | | examination are required to accept a student's score of 3 or |
| 10 | | higher on the Advanced Placement examination for postsecondary |
| 11 | | level course credit as a part of their general education degree |
| 12 | | requirements, if applicable, or for an elective credit if not. |
| 13 | | If an institution of higher education does not offer a |
| 14 | | corresponding course for a particular Advanced Placement |
| 15 | | examination, then the institution shall award, at a minimum, |
| 16 | | elective postsecondary level course credit toward general |
| 17 | | education degree requirements for those students who receive a |
| 18 | | score of 3 or higher on the Advanced Placement examination.

| 19 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon |
| 20 | | becoming law.".
