| 4 | | "Section 5. The University of Illinois Act is amended by |
| 5 | | adding Section 12.10 as follows:

| 7 | | Sec. 12.10. Study on closed elementary and secondary school |
| 8 | | buildings. The Department of Commerce and Economic Development |
| 9 | | shall conduct a study with regard to public elementary and |
| 10 | | secondary school buildings that have been closed within 5 years |
| 11 | | before the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 99th |
| 12 | | General Assembly. The study shall determine how many of the |
| 13 | | school buildings have remained schools, how many have been |
| 14 | | successfully redeveloped, and how many are vacant. The |
| 15 | | Department shall report its findings and recommendations for |
| 16 | | facilitating successful redevelopment of these school |
