Amends the Local Food, Farms, and Jobs Act. Provides that the Department of Agriculture shall create and maintain 2 public directories for the purpose of facilitating the purchase of local farm or food products. Provides that the Farmers' Public Directory shall include information necessary for farmers to identify and contact purchasing agents. Provides that the Purchasers' Public Directory shall include information necessary for purchasers to identify and contact qualified farmers and distributors. Authorizes the Department to adopt rules necessary to implement this program.

1 | | AN ACT concerning finance.

2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The Local Food, Farms, and Jobs Act is amended |
5 | | by adding Section 35 as follows: |
6 | | (30 ILCS 595/35 new) |
7 | | Sec. 35. Public Directories. The Department of Agriculture |
8 | | shall create and maintain 2 public directories for the purpose |
9 | | of facilitating the purchase of local farm or food products. |
10 | | The directories shall be developed and maintained jointly with |
11 | | the Local Food, Farms, and Jobs Council. The directories shall |
12 | | be as follow: |
13 | | (a)Farmers' Public Directory. The Farmers' Public |
14 | | Directory shall include, at a minimum, information necessary |
15 | | for farmers to identify and contact purchasing agents at: |
16 | | (1) State agencies; |
17 | | (2) Public colleges; and |
18 | | (3) State universities. |
19 | | (b)Purchasers' Public Directory. The Purchasers' Public |
20 | | Directory shall include, at a minimum, information necessary |
21 | | for purchasers to identify and contact qualified farmers and |
22 | | distributors of local farm or food products.
