Amends the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Law of the Civil Administrative Code of Illinois. Provides that the Department is authorized to create a Regional Economic Revitalization Competition Program for the purpose of making competitive grants for the economic development regions of the State in need of community and economic revitalization.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,

| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:

| 4 | | Section 5. The Department of Commerce and Economic |
| 5 | | Opportunity Law of the
Civil Administrative Code of Illinois is |
| 6 | | amended by adding Section 605-1020 as follows:

| 7 | | (20 ILCS 605/605-1020 new) |
| 8 | | Sec. 605-1020. Economic revitalization competition. The |
| 9 | | Department is authorized to create a Regional Economic |
| 10 | | Revitalization Competition Program for the purpose of making |
| 11 | | competitive grants for the economic development regions of the |
| 12 | | State in need of community and economic revitalization. The |
| 13 | | competitive grant program shall support the revitalization of |
| 14 | | communities, job growth, and population sustainability. The |
| 15 | | Department shall adopt rules and make grants, subject to |
| 16 | | appropriation by the General Assembly, for this purpose.
