| 1 | | AN ACT concerning transportation.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Illinois Vehicle Code is amended by adding |
| 5 | | Section 12-218 as follows: |
| 6 | | (625 ILCS 5/12-218 new) |
| 7 | | Sec. 12-218. Auxiliary accent lighting on motorcycles. |
| 8 | | (a) A motorcycle registered in this State may be equipped |
| 9 | | with, and a person operating the motorcycle may use, standard |
| 10 | | bulb running lights or light–emitting diode (L.E.D.) pods and |
| 11 | | strips as auxiliary lighting with the intent of protecting the |
| 12 | | driver. |
| 13 | | (b) Auxiliary lighting authorized under subsection (a) of |
| 14 | | this Section: |
| 15 | | (1) shall not project a beam of light of an intensity |
| 16 | | greater than 25 candlepower or its equivalent from a single |
| 17 | | lamp or single light-emitting diode (L.E.D.); |
| 18 | | (2) shall not be directed horizontally; |
| 19 | | (3) shall be so directed that no part of the beam will |
| 20 | | strike the level of the surface on which the motorcycle |
| 21 | | stands at a distance of more than 10 feet from the |
| 22 | | motorcycle; |
| 23 | | (4) shall be directed towards the ground; |
