Creates the Health Care Cost Estimate Act. Provides that if a person is provided outpatient services by a medical facility, then before that person is discharged from the medical facility, the medical facility must provide that person with an estimate of his or her out-of-pocket costs for the outpatient services and, if applicable, an estimate of the amount covered by his or her insurance policy. Defines "medical facility" and "outpatient services".

| 1 | | AN ACT concerning regulation.

| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Health |
| 5 | | Care Cost Estimate Act.
|
| 6 | | Section 5. Definitions. As used in this Act: |
| 7 | | "Medical facility" means any public or private facility |
| 8 | | that provides, on an outpatient basis, preventive, diagnostic, |
| 9 | | therapeutic, convalescent, rehabilitation, or mental health |
| 10 | | services. |
| 11 | | "Outpatient services" means any preventive, diagnostic, |
| 12 | | therapeutic, convalescent, rehabilitation, or mental health |
| 13 | | service provided on an outpatient basis.

| 14 | | Section 10. Cost estimate for outpatient services. If a |
| 15 | | person is provided outpatient services by a medical facility, |
| 16 | | then before that person is discharged from the medical |
| 17 | | facility, the medical facility must provide that person with an |
| 18 | | estimate of his or her out-of-pocket costs for the outpatient |
| 19 | | services and, if applicable, an estimate of the amount covered |
| 20 | | by his or her insurance policy.
