| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 5. The Alcoholism and Other Drug Abuse and |
| 5 | | Dependency Act is amended by adding Section 20-25 as follows:

| 7 | | Sec. 20-25. Opioid addiction treatment education. All |
| 8 | | programs serving persons with substance use issues licensed by |
| 9 | | the Department under this Act must provide educational |
| 10 | | information concerning treatment options for opioid addiction, |
| 11 | | including the use of a medication for the use of opioid |
| 12 | | addiction, recognition of and response to opioid overdose, and |
| 13 | | the use and administration of naloxone, to clients identified |
| 14 | | as having or seeking treatment for opioid addiction. The |
| 15 | | Department shall develop educational materials that are |
| 16 | | supported by research and updated periodically that must be |
| 17 | | used by programs to comply with this requirement.
