Amends the School Code. Provides that, upon request of an alternative higher learning institution, the school board of Rockford School District 205 may award a diploma to any person who has not received a high school diploma but has received a high school equivalency certificate from the alternative higher learning institution, with conditions. Provides for rulemaking.

1 | | AN ACT concerning education.
|
2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
4 | | Section 5. The School Code is amended by adding Section |
5 | | 22-28 as follows: |
6 | | (105 ILCS 5/22-28 new) |
7 | | Sec. 22-28. High school equivalency certificate recipient; |
8 | | diploma. |
9 | | (a) Upon request of an alternative higher learning |
10 | | institution, the school board of Rockford School District 205 |
11 | | may award a diploma to any person who: |
12 | | (1) has not received a high school diploma but has |
13 | | received a high school equivalency certificate under |
14 | | Section 3-15.12 of this Code from the alternative higher |
15 | | learning institution if the certificate was issued after |
16 | | the effective date of this amendatory Act of the 99th |
17 | | General Assembly and the institution is acceptable to the |
18 | | school board; and |
19 | | (2) meets any other requirements that the school board |
20 | | may establish, including any course prerequisites. |
21 | | (b) The State Board of Education and the Illinois Community |
22 | | College Board may adopt any rules necessary to implement this |
23 | | Section.
