| 1 | | AN ACT concerning local government.
|
| 2 | | Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
|
| 3 | | represented in the General Assembly:
|
| 4 | | Section 1. Short title. This Act may be cited as the Police |
| 5 | | Animal Retirement Act.
|
| 6 | | Section 5. Police animal retirement. A police animal, as |
| 7 | | defined in Section 2.08 of the Humane Care for Animals Act, who |
| 8 | | is deemed no longer fit for public service, may be donated by |
| 9 | | the county, municipality, or other State law enforcement agency |
| 10 | | to the officer or employee who had normal custody and control |
| 11 | | of the animal during its service.

| 12 | | Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect January |
| 13 | | 1, 2017.
