AMENDMENT TO HOUSE BILL 6226 




2    AMENDMENT NO. ______. Amend House Bill 6226 by replacing 
3everything after the enacting clause with the following:



 
4    "Section 5. The Illinois Highway Code is amended  by adding 
5Section 9-132 as follows:
 
6    (605 ILCS 5/9-132 new)
7    Sec. 9-132. Highway design.  A unit of local government may 
8consult a highway design publication outside the Department's 
9Bureau of Local Roads and Streets Manual for the construction 
10of any highway in ownership or control of the unit of local 
11government, except for a highway that is part of the National 
12System of Interstate and Defense Highways, if:
13    (1) the unit of local government receives federal or State 
14funds for the construction project;
15    (2) the highway design publication is approved by the 
16Federal Highway Administration;

1    (3) the highway design publication is adopted by the unit 
2of local government; and
3    (4) the design complies with all other applicable federal 
4laws.".
