SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

 

Appropriates $5,000,000 from the General Revenue Fund to the State Board of Education for the purpose of providing grants to high-poverty, low-performing public schools to identify and meet the educational needs of gifted and talented children, including students with specific learning disabilities who are also identified as gifted and talented. Effective July 1, 2016.

    AN ACT concerning appropriations.

 

        Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

 

    Section 5.  The amount of $5,000,000, or so much of that amount as may be necessary, is appropriated from the General Revenue Fund to the State Board of Education for the purpose of providing grants to high-poverty, low-performing public schools to identify and meet the educational needs of gifted and talented children, as defined in Article 14A of  the School Code, including students with specific learning disabilities who are also identified as gifted and talented.

 

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect July 1, 2016.
