HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Father Joseph Trapp on his 
4retirement from the St. Joseph Parish in Benton after 56 years 
5of service to his community and faith; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Father Trapp was born and raised on a farm in Mt. 
7Carmel; after attending St. Mary's Grade School, he attended 
8the St. Henry Seminary in Belleville; and
  
 
9    WHEREAS, After being ordained on May 23, 1959, Father Trapp 
10went on to serve at 11 churches across southern Illinois; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Father Trapp has served as a Pastor at Sacred 
12Heart Church in DuQuoin, St. Peter Cathedral in Belleville, St. 
13Patrick Church in Enfield, St. John Nepomucene Church in 
14Dahlgran, St. Clement Church in McLeansboro, St. Mary Church in 
15Shawneetown, St. Patrick Church in Pond Settlement, St. Rose of 
16Lima Church in Metropolis, and St. Joseph Church in 
17Elizabethtown; and

  
 
18    WHEREAS, After serving as the Pastor at St. Joseph Church 
19in Benton since 2000, Father Trapp will retire in July of 2015; 
20therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 
3SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we congratulate Father Joseph 
4Trapp on the occasion of his retirement and thank him for his 
5years of commitment to the Town of Benton and the State of 
6Illinois, and honor him for his 56 years of dedication to his 
7faith and the thousands of parishioners he has served; and be 
8it further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Father Trapp as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
