2 | | WHEREAS, It is necessary to recognize those who are |
3 | | dedicated to the betterment of the State of Illinois and their |
4 | | communities; and

5 | | WHEREAS, Edward Royce "Fast Eddie" Sholar, Sr. was born on |
6 | | August 16, 1953 at Scott Air Force Base hospital in St. Clair |
7 | | County; his parents were Dexter and Norma (nee Schelle) Sholar; |
8 | | and
|
9 | | WHEREAS, Edward Sholar, Sr. graduated from Alton High |
10 | | School in 1971; and
|
11 | | WHEREAS, Edward Sholar, Sr. was the owner and operator of |
12 | | numerous businesses in and around the City of Alton, most |
13 | | notably Fast Eddie's Bon Air; and
|
14 | | WHEREAS, Edward Sholar, Sr. was known to be a generous and |
15 | | giving man and an icon for Alton and the region; and
|
16 | | WHEREAS, It is fitting to dedicate the portion of Broadway |
17 | | from Washington Avenue to Monument Street in Alton in honor of |
18 | | Edward Royce Sholar, Sr.; therefore, be it
