HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The Amicus Poloniae - the Friend of Polonia - 
3Volunteer Free Legal Clinic celebrates its 25th anniversary of 
4offering free legal help to low-income members of the Polish 
5community in Chicago in October of 2015; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, The Amicus Poloniae volunteer attorneys meet at 
75711 North Milwaukee Avenue on Chicago's northwest side in the 
8Alliance Building on the third Saturday of each month to advise 
9people on their legal problems; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, The Amicus Poloniae were inspired by other ethnic 
11groups
throughout Chicago that provide
legal help to 
12individuals that would
normally be unable to afford to
hire an 
13attorney for legal work, advice, or to accompany them to a  
14court
room; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, On
average 10 to 20 attorneys volunteer
to help up 
16to 60 clients each month; aid is given on civil
matters that 
17include immigration,
probate, elder law, social security,

18housing, employment, foreclosure,
and retirement among other 
19types of
cases; and
  
 
  
20    WHEREAS, Since 1990 Amicus Poloniae has been  sponsored by 
21the Polish National
Alliance; therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 
3SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we congratulate Amicus Poloniae -
4 the Friend of Polonia - Volunteer Free Legal Clinic as it 
5celebrates its 25th anniversary in October of 2015 and we thank 
6them for their dedication to the community and their commitment 
7to public service; and be it further
  
 
8    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
9presented to Amicus Poloniae as an expression of our esteem and 
10respect.
