HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois General Assembly wish 
3to honor the members of the United States Armed Forces who have 
4protected our nation; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, America has called on her men and women in uniform 
6to protect our national security, to advance our national 
7interests, and to preserve our rights and freedoms; and
  
 
8    WHEREAS, The members of the United States Armed Forces have 
9fought for our country's freedom; we shall never forget their 
10sacrifice; and

  
 
11    WHEREAS, We remember and pay tribute to the millions of 
12patriots whose courage and sacrifice have secured our freedom, 
13beginning with the establishment of the Continental Army on 
14June 14, 1775, many of whose members suffered through the harsh 
15winter at Valley Forge and up to those who are keeping the 
16peace and defending our values and interests around the globe 
17today; therefore, be it
  
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
19NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 
20SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we designate the portion of 
21Illinois Route 50 within Clinton County as the Veterans

1Memorial Highway; and be it further
  
 
2    RESOLVED, That the Illinois Department of Transportation 
3is requested to erect at suitable locations, consistent with 
4State and federal regulations, appropriate plaques or signs 
5giving notice of the name of Veterans Memorial Highway; and be 
6it further
 
7    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
8delivered to the Secretary of Transportation and the Secretary 
9of Veterans Affairs.
