HOUSE JOINT RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, On March 26, 2016, the United States Army Field 
3Band and Soldiers' Chorus will be
featured at the Benton Civic 
4Center, honoring Southern Illinois by making their only

5scheduled stop in the area; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, As the principal concert band from our nation's 
7capital, and as the musical ambassadors
of the army, the Army 
8Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus is made up of our nation's 
9finest and
bravest combined to present a premier musical 
10experience; and
  
 
11    WHEREAS, Founded in 1946 and 1957 respectively, both 
12ensembles present concerts on their
national tours and have 
13performed in all 50 states and 30 foreign countries for 
14millions of people; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, The veterans groups and community leaders who have 
16worked together to
bring the ensemble to Benton should be 
17commended; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Southern Illinois is honored to have them perform 
19at this community concert as part of the program entitled 
20"Southern Illinois Salute to Our Nation's Veterans,
featuring 
21the U.S. Army Field Band and Soldiers' Chorus"; and

1    WHEREAS, All of the brave men and women who serve our 
2country deserve recognition, and
the concert will be held in 
3the spirit of paying tribute to those who have sacrificed so 
4much for their country; therefore, be it
  
 
5    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
6NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, THE 
7SENATE CONCURRING HEREIN, that we declare March 26, 2016 as

8"Southern Illinois Veterans Awareness Day", and we extend our 
9best wishes to those performing
and thank them and all veterans 
10for their service and bravery to our country; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be 
12presented to the United States Army Field Band and Soldiers' 
13Chorus, and the veterans groups and community leaders who made 
14this event possible.
