HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Dr. Basil
4Anthony Moskoff of Zeigler, who passed away on November 25,
52014; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was born in Zeigler on July 18,
71927 to Anton Basil and Julia Katherine (nee Raski) Moskoff; he
8graduated from Zeigler High School (now Zeigler-Royalton High
9School) in 1945; he served in the United States Army during
10World War II; he graduated from Southern Illinois University
11and then from the University of Illinois College of Medicine in
121953; he married Betty Jean Roth on October 10, 1953 in
13Chicago; and
 
14    WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff practiced medicine in Zeigler
15for 48 years until his retirement in 2001; he was a charter
16member of and board certified by the American Academy of Family
17Physicians; he was also a member of the Franklin County Medical
18Society and the Illinois State Medical Society; and
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was a member of Zeigler American
20Legion, Patrick McClellan Post 177; he was also a member of St.
21Aloysius-Sacred Heart Parish in Royalton, the Franklin County
22Country Club, the Eagles Lodge in Zeigler, the Rotary Club of

1Herrin, and the Knights of Columbus in Herrin; he enjoyed
2fishing, golfing, spending time with family and friends, and
3grilling and hosting family dinners; he was affectionately
4known as "Dedo" or "Dr. Bill"; and
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff was preceded in death by his
6parents and an infant brother; and
 
7    WHEREAS, Dr. Basil Moskoff is survived by his wife, Betty;
8his 4 sons, Bill Moskoff (Milagros Romero), Bob (Elaine)
9Moskoff, Tony Moskoff (Michele Harbin), and John (Kimberly)
10Moskoff; his 2 daughters, Julia Moskoff (Doug McDonald) and
11Mary Rawlings; his 5 grandchildren, Natalie McDonald, Ryan and
12Richard Rawlings, and Bobbi Jo and Boris Moskoff; his 2
13brothers-in-law and a sister-in-law, Richard and Pat Roth and
14family and Mary Joan and Fred Barlow and family, and Jack Roth;
15cousins of the Moskoff family, Larry and Bill; cousins of the
16Raski family, John and his sister, Mary Kay Grezlak; and
17Michael Petroski; therefore, be it
 
18    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
19NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
20mourn the passing of Dr. Basil Anthony Moskoff, and extend our
21sincere condolences to his family, friends, and all who knew
22and loved him; and be it further

3of our deepest sympathy.
