2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
3 | | Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Earl J. |
4 | | Wiles of Carlinville, who passed away on December 22, 2014; and
|
5 | | WHEREAS, Earl Wiles was born in Carlinville on September |
6 | | 21, 1920 to Reuben and Olive (nee Farrant) Wiles; he graduated |
7 | | from Carlinville High School in 1941; he served in the United |
8 | | States Navy during World War II as a Gunner's Mate 1st Class, |
9 | | serving in both the Pacific and European theaters; on April 24, |
10 | | 1949, he married Frances "Tim" Hewitt at the Chesterfield |
11 | | United Church; and
|
12 | | WHEREAS, Earl Wiles owned and operated R.E. Wiles Trucking |
13 | | in Carlinville for over 50 years; he served with the |
14 | | Carlinville Fire Department for 52 years; and
|
15 | | WHEREAS, Earl Wiles was member of the American Legion Guy |
16 | | Baird Post #554 for over 50 years, a member of the Macoupin |
17 | | Club, serving as a past President, and a 50-year member of the |
18 | | Order of the Eastern Star of Illinois 665 Plainview Chapter and |
19 | | the Mt. Nebo Lodge No. 76
Ancient Free and Accepted Masons of |
20 | | Illinois; he was a past member of the Lions Club and Elks Club; |
21 | | he enjoyed going to the Indy 500, attending 21 straight races; |
22 | | he enjoyed walking every morning and fishing at Lake Rinaker; |
