| 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of |
| 3 | | Representatives are pleased to congratulate Naperville Mayor |
| 4 | | A. George Pradel on the occasion of his retirement; and
|
| 5 | | WHEREAS, A. George Pradel was born in Hyde Park and moved |
| 6 | | to Naperville in 1939; he has been a resident of Naperville |
| 7 | | since then; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, A. George Pradel served his country in the United |
| 9 | | States Marine Corps from 1956 to 1959; he later served for 29 |
| 10 | | years with the Naperville Police Department, where he earned |
| 11 | | the nickname of "Officer Friendly" through his work in visiting |
| 12 | | schools and speaking to children; he retired from the |
| 13 | | Naperville Police Department at the rank of lieutenant on April |
| 14 | | 30, 1995 in order to serve as Mayor of Naperville; he was |
| 15 | | subsequently reelected to the position in 1999, 2003, 2007, and |
| 16 | | 2011; and
|
| 17 | | WHEREAS, As Mayor of Naperville, A. George Pradel was well |
| 18 | | known and well regarded for his many public appearances, his |
| 19 | | friendly demeanor, and his great and unwavering enthusiasm for |
| 20 | | Naperville; and
|
| 21 | | WHEREAS, In 2013, A. George Pradel was awarded an honorary |
