HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to congratulate Peggy and Bob Yeakley on 
4the occasion of their retirement after 45 years of owning and 
5operating Yeakley's Market in Hammond; and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Peggy and Bob Yeakley began operating Hammond's 
7grocery store on October 13, 1969; throughout the years, 
8Yeakley's Market has sold all sorts of food, drink, and even 
9antiques; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS,  Operating a grocery store had been Bob Yeakley's 
11goal since he was a 7-year-old growing up in Taylorville; by 
12the age of 15, he was working at Cloyd's Food Center in 
13Decatur, and at the age of 28, he took over Hammond's grocery 
14store; and
  
 
15    WHEREAS, Peggy and Bob Yeakley have dedicated their lives 
16to their store, having only taken a total of 2 weeks of 
17vacation in the 45 years they have operated it; and
  
 
18    WHEREAS, Peggy and Bob Yeakley's love for their business is 
19why they do not mind arriving for work at 4 a.m., 6 days a week;

1    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
2NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
3congratulate Peggy and Bob Yeakley on their retirement after 45 
4years of owning and operating Yeakley's Market in Hammond and 
5we wish them the best in all their future endeavors; and be it

7    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
8presented to Peggy and Bob Yeakley as an expression of our 
9esteem and respect.
