HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to recognize Dr. Nancy Taft for her 
4commitment to women's health issues; and
  
 
5    WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Taft currently serves as Medical 
6Director of the Comprehensive Breast Health Center at the 
7Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers, which 
8performs outreach and education for women with breast cancer 
9and their families; and
  
 
10    WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Taft received her associate's degree in 
11science and nursing in 1984, her bachelor's degree in nursing 
12from Southern Illinois University in 1988, and her Doctor of 
13Medicine from the Southern Illinois University School of 
14Medicine in 1999; she completed her general surgery internship 
15at the Medical College of Wisconsin in 2000 and her general 
16surgery residency there in 2004; in 2009, she completed the 
17Northwestern University Breast Surgical Oncology Fellowship; 
18she is a member of multiple professional societies; and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Taft is a Lt. Colonel in the United 
20States Army; she has served 2 tours of duty as a trauma 
21surgeon; she was deployed in Afghanistan during Operation 
22Enduring Freedom in 2009, and again in Afghanistan in 2013; and

1    WHEREAS, Dr. Nancy Taft will be honored at a celebration on 
2February 15, 2015 at which she will share her journey as a 
3mother, soldier, and surgeon; therefore, be it
  
 
4    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
5NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
6recognize Dr. Nancy Taft for her commitment to women's health 
7issues and thank her for her service to her country; and be it 
8further
  
 
9    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
10presented to Dr. Nancy Taft as an expression of our esteem and 
11respect.
