HOUSE RESOLUTION

  
 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of 
3Representatives wish to honor the life of  music legend, Daniel 
4Grayling "Dan" Fogelberg, who passed away on December 16, 2007; 
5and
  
 
6    WHEREAS, Dan Fogelberg was born in Peoria on August 13, 
71951 to Margaret (nee Irvine) and Lawrence Peter Fogelberg; he 
8graduated from Woodruff High School in 1969 and studied theater 
9arts and painting at the University of Illinois at 
10Urbana-Champaign, while playing local venues with a folk rock 
11band; and
  
 
12    WHEREAS, In 1972, Dan Fogelberg released his debut album, 
13Home Free, which achieved Platinum status and began a string of 
14albums that achieved either Platinum or Gold status, including 
15Souvenirs (1974), Captured Angel (1975), Nether Lands (1977), 
16Twin Sons of Different Mothers (1978), Phoenix (1979), The 
17Innocent Age (1981),  Windows and Walls (1984), and High Country 
18Snows (1985); and
  
 
19    WHEREAS, Dan Fogelberg's hometown of Peoria renamed 
20Abington Street, which runs alongside his alma mater, Woodruff 
21High School, "Fogelberg Parkway", and a memorial garden in 
22Riverfront Park was dedicated in his honor on August 28, 2010;

2    WHEREAS, Dan Fogelberg was married to Jean Marie Mayer from 
3April 7, 2002 until his passing; and
  
 
4    WHEREAS, Dan Fogelberg was a musician, songwriter, 
5composer, and multi-instrumentalist whose music was loved by 
6millions; therefore, be it
  
 
7    RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE 
8NINETY-NINTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we 
9honor the life of  music legend, Daniel Grayling "Dan" 
10Fogelberg; and be it further
 
11    RESOLVED, That we declare August 13, 2015 as "Dan Fogelberg 
12Day" in the State of Illinois; and be it further
  
 
13    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be 
14presented to the family of Dan Fogelberg.
