| 3 | | life and has been ingrained into the consciousness of society; |

| 5 | | WHEREAS, There must be officials to enforce the rules of |
| 6 | | the game and judge potential disputes between participants on |
| 7 | | the field; and
|
| 8 | | WHEREAS, Many officials volunteer their time or receive |
| 9 | | only minimal compensation; and
|
| 10 | | WHEREAS, Many officials participate out of a sheer love of |
| 11 | | the game and to teach children who play the game valuable |
| 12 | | lessons, such as sportsmanship, working as a team, and working |
| 13 | | within the rules of the game to achieve a common goal; and
|
| 14 | | WHEREAS, Many officials are cross-trained to officiate |
| 15 | | multiple sports; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Sports officials must make split-second |
| 17 | | decisions, often under pressure; and |
| 18 | | WHEREAS, Proper officiating reduces the risk of sports |
| 19 | | injuries; and
|
