| 2 | | WHEREAS, The Middle East continues to be the most troubled |
| 3 | | and violent region on the planet; and
|
| 4 | | WHEREAS, Current trends, particularly associated with the |
| 5 | | Islamic Republic of Iran and a group of insurgents in Iraq and |
| 6 | | Syria who operate as the so-called "Islamic Caliphate" or |
| 7 | | "ISIS", indicate that dangers to the United States and the |
| 8 | | other free peoples of the world continue to increase; and
|
| 9 | | WHEREAS, In the midst of this troubled region, the Republic |
| 10 | | of Israel stands forth as America's key ally and as a beacon of |
| 11 | | hope to courageous and free people everywhere; and
|
| 12 | | WHEREAS, Dangers to the free world center not only on the |
| 13 | | growing threat of terrorism, but also on the possibility that |
| 14 | | Iran may acquire nuclear weaponry or acquire the means to |
| 15 | | quickly obtain nuclear weaponry; and
|
| 16 | | WHEREAS, Leaders of Iran have expressed the desire to harm |
| 17 | | or destroy Israel; Iran's policies constitute an existential |
| 18 | | threat to the balance of power in the Middle East; therefore, |
